SlutWalk campaign

(2024)

Description

SLUTWALK IS A TRANSNATIONAL MOVEMENT OF PROTEST MARCHES CALLING FOR AN END TO RAPE CULTURE, INCLUDING VICTIM-BLAMING AND SLUT-SHAMING OF SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIMS. THE MOVEMENT ORIGINATED IN TORONTO, CANADA, IN 2011, FOLLOWING A REMARK MADE BY A POLICE OFFICER WHO SUGGESTED THAT “WOMEN SHOULD AVOID DRESSING LIKE SLUTS” TO PREVENT BEING VICTIMIZED. THIS COMMENT SPARKED OUTRAGE AND LED TO THE FIRST SLUTWALK, ORGANIZED TO CHALLENGE AND DISMANTLE THE MYTHS AND STEREOTYPES SURROUNDING SEXUAL VIOLENCE.

WHY THE CAMPAIGN?

WHY THE CAMPAIGN?

The psa campaign was created to challenge the way society views the female body. Using bold, minimal illustrations of women confidently showing skin, the design reclaims body parts often labeled as provocative. This visual approach pushes the message that clothing does not equal consent, and that women deserve to be seen without judgment. The campaign promotes respect, safety, and body autonomy through clean, powerful imagery that invites conversation and change.
